DIY Memory Box

Last Monday, it was a friend of mine's birthday and I wanted to give her a present that wouldn't be too expensive (student's budget), but that would be something special (because she really is one these people you meet and instantly realize they are the kind of person you don't find a lot of. Someone you want to keep in your life, you know what I'm talking about?). With our year abroad coming to an end, I have stocked up a lot of "memories": train tickets, bar tickets, bracelets, flyers... So I thought of this great idea.

For this DIY, all you're going to need is a float frame and anything you want to put inside. I decided to use memories from my year abroad, but you could also use cinema tickets, or concert tickets, or anything you can think of!

First, disassemble the frame. Gather all the memories you've been collecting and displaying them on the back side of the frame (the "cardboard" part with the stand).

I also made this little garland using ribbon and washi tape that says "Leuven", the city where we are studying.

In case you're wondering what each of the things I put inside are...

My frame came with this wooden square that separates the back from the glass, making space for all of your memories.

Place this on top on your memories, place the glass on top, and carefully place everything in the frame.

This is so easy to make and I think it's such a great idea! And, hopefully, you will love it too. I think that not only would it be a great gift, but it also makes a very cute decoration! And, most important, it gives you something to do with all those things that you don't want to throw away because they're linked to so many memories....

Question of the Day

Are you also one of those people who stock up things and things because you're too emotionally attached to throw them away?

Did you like this post? Why don't we keep in touch?

  2. This is such a good idea! What's the point of having memories if you store them away in a box - put them out on show! :) Love it!
